Olá!

Born and raised in the outskirts of São Paulo, I was a lively and energetic little girl, always excited about everything around me. My childhood was filled with books, quick readings of Turma da Mônica comics, and plenty of pirouettes. Ballet was my first and most significant introduction to classical music, as well as to the idea of an Europe steeped in the arts.Later, during my teenage years, I rebelled against history, philosophy, and the arts. Influenced by the practical allure of careers in the exact sciences, I distanced myself from these subjects, rejecting any appreciation for them. Still, literature remained my constant companion. From the Harry Potter craze to my love for Mia Thermopolis, and then to the classics of Brazilian, Portuguese, and English literature, books were always my best friends.

A lover of words and the English language, I spent the last six months before deciding on my studies considering different paths. I ultimately veered away from engineering and chose to pursue languages at university, focusing on translation and interpretation. I then devoted my professional life to aviation and global travel planning, all while nurturing my enduring love for literature. It wasn’t until about eight years later that I reconnected with philosophy, drawn to Buddhist teachings. I immersed myself in philosophical studies and was captivated by these writings. It was around the same time that I became intrigued by gender studies. Over the past decade, I’ve read extensively about feminism, with a deep influence from psychoanalysis. I’ve engaged in guided readings of works by Clarissa Pinkola Estés, Simone de Beauvoir, Naomi Wolf, Maya Angelou, Bell Hooks, and more.

Every place I travel to, I seek to understand its history through its music, its art, its people—and especially its women. The stories of women tell so much about a country’s past and its current place in the world. These experiences have become the most memorable part of my travels, enriched by the people I've met along the way.

​

Since moving to Portugal, I've been reading and learning about its history, deeply rooted in colonization and longstanding cultural disregard of women —undeniable truths. I wanted to understand the past and, more importantly, understand how the women of this country navigated their times, their struggles, and their victories. Herstory Portugal is my attempt to find joy in life by sharing my passion for women’s history. I believe Portugal has an important story to tell, one that is often forgotten or overlooked on the global stage. This is something I felt was missing in the city, and I’m eager to offer an enriching and unforgettable experience to everyone who visits.
